Make + Master: Christmas Family Pajamas

Make matching Christmas pajamas for one, two or the whole family—with everything you need included.

There’s something extra special about handmade Christmas pajamas—and this year, we’re making the whole process easier.

Join us in the WORKROOM for a two-part holiday sewing workshop where you’ll cut, prep and sew your own full pajama sets using beautifully soft bamboo jersey knit in classic buffalo plaid.

Choose to make one adult set, two adult sets or a full family set for two adults + two kids. Every option includes the fabric, paper patterns and supplies you need—so you can arrive ready to make without sourcing metres and metres of fabric on your own.

And we mean metres: a single adult set uses more than 3 metres of fabric, two adult sets include more than 6 metres, and the family option includes over 10 metres of premium bamboo jersey knit.

No previous sewing experience is required. Jodie will guide you through the construction process while sharing techniques for sewing knits, organizing multiple garment pieces and working efficiently when you’re sewing more than one of the same project.

CHOOSE YOUR PAJAMA SET
Choose the workshop option that works for you:

• One Adult Set — one complete adult pajama top + bottom
• Two Adult Sets — two complete adult pajama tops + bottoms
• Family Set — two complete adult sets + two complete kids’ sets

Your registration includes all of the fabric required for the option you select.
Depending on sizing, that means approximately:

3+ metres of fabric for one adult set
6+ metres for two adult sets
10+ metres for a family set

No fabric shopping. No guessing how much you need. No discovering halfway through cutting that you’re short.

We’ve taken care of the materials so you can focus on making.

THE FABRIC
Your pajamas will be made from our super-soft bamboo jersey knit in a classic buffalo plaid—comfortable, stretchy and perfect for cozy Christmas mornings.

Choose from:

• Red + Black Buffalo Plaid
• Green + Black Buffalo Plaid
• White + Black Buffalo Plaid

Your fabric selection will be made prior to the workshop so we can have everything ready for your cutting session.

CUT + PREP NIGHT
Making multiple garments means there’s a lot of fabric to manage—and having the right space makes a big difference.

Choose either December 2 or December 4 from 6–8pm for your dedicated cutting and preparation session in the WORKROOM.

You’ll have access to our:

• Large-format cutting tables
• Rotary cutters and cutting mats
• Pattern weights and WORKROOM tools
• Staff support for laying out patterns and cutting efficiently

It’s also a chance to settle in, meet the other makers and get the prep work done together before sewing day.

Already comfortable cutting at home?
You may choose to skip the Cutting + Prep Night. Your materials will need to be picked up from Fabric + Flow ahead of time, and all pattern pieces must be fully cut and ready to sew before Saturday’s workshop.

There will be no cutting during the December 5 sewing session so the full day can be dedicated to construction.

WHAT YOU’LL LEARN + PRACTICE
Throughout the workshop, Jodie will guide you through the techniques needed to construct your pajama sets, including:

• Working with bamboo jersey and stretch fabrics
• Understanding stretch direction and fabric layout
• Sewing knit seams
• Constructing pajama tops and bottoms
• Working with elastic waistbands
• Finishing knit garments cleanly
• Organizing pattern pieces when sewing multiple garments
• Batch sewing and construction sequencing
• Managing your time when making several versions of the same garment

If you’re newer to sewing, Jodie will walk you through the foundational skills as you go.

If you already sew, you’ll have the opportunity to focus on speed, consistency and efficient garment construction—particularly helpful when making an entire family’s worth of pajamas.

IS THIS CLASS FOR YOU?
Absolutely—even if you’ve never sewn before.

This workshop is designed to accommodate both new and experienced makers. You do not need previous garment-sewing or knit-sewing experience to participate.

The project does involve a significant amount of sewing, particularly for the two-adult and family options. Jodie will help you organize your work, sew efficiently and keep your project moving throughout the day.

Our goal is to help you leave with your Christmas pajamas finished—or very close to it.

Because every sewist works at a different pace, we cannot guarantee that every garment will be completely finished during the scheduled workshop time, particularly when making multiple sets. If you don’t quite finish, we’ll make sure you understand the remaining steps and feel confident completing them at home.

MEET YOUR INSTRUCTOR
Jodie Kachkar has been sewing since she was 12 and has spent 25 years teaching with Edmonton Public Schools, including teaching fashion to high school students.

She brings an approachable, supportive teaching style to the WORKROOM and loves helping sewists build both practical sewing skills and the confidence to take on bigger projects.

For this workshop, Jodie will also share strategies for batch sewing, project organization and efficient construction—the same techniques that make tackling four sets of pajamas feel much more manageable than sewing them one at a time.

That means more than 3 metres of premium bamboo jersey for one adult set, 6+ metres for two adult sets or over 10 metres for the family option, along with your pattern, notions, take-home sewing kit, equipment and instruction.

GOOD TO KNOW
We’ll take a break partway through Saturday’s sewing session so you can recharge before getting back to your pajamas.

Lunch is not included, so please bring something with you or plan to grab lunch nearby. Refreshments will be available throughout the workshop.

Please arrive on Saturday with all pajama pieces fully cut and ready to sew. If you attend one of our Cutting + Prep Nights, we’ll help you get everything organized and ready for sewing day.
